On the weekend of April 16-17, 1999, the National Football League held its annual draft. This was, in my opinion, a very prolific year for the Gators in the draft. 8 University of Florida players got the call to play in "The Show". This is the highest number of players to get drafted from UF since 1992, when 9 UF players were picked.  The players from this years draft were the following:

Jevon Kearse
Drafted 16th in the 1st Round, 16th Overall
By the Tennessee Titans

Reggie McGrew
Drafted 24th in the 1st Round, 24th Overall
By the San Francisco 49ers

Mike Peterson
Drafted 5th in the 2nd Round, 36th Overall
By the Indiannapolis Colts

Johnny Rutledge
Drafted 20th in the 2nd Round, 51st Overall
By the Arizona Cardinals

Zach Piller
Drafted 20th in the 2nd Round, 81st Overall
By the Tennessee Titans

Tony George
Drafted 30th in the 2nd Round, 91st Overall
By the New England Patriots

Travis McGriff
Drafted 32nd in the 2nd Round, 93rd Overall
By the Denver Broncos

Terry Jackson
Drafted in the 5th Round, 157th Overall
By the San Francisco 49ers

To those players that chose to bypass their final year of eligibility to go into the draft, you will be sorely missed.

To all NFL draftees, I wish a hearty congratulations!
